BOSTON STRONG!

As you all know, Boston Massachusetts suffered from two bombings last week during the historic Boston Marathon. Today, I wanted to talk about how Boston came together, through their weakness, to unite as one. Saturday, with the help of the Red Sox before their game against Kansas City, the fans and locals paid tribute to the victims. Even though I may sound biased because of my unconditional love for the Boston Red Sox, I feel as though the players expressed their loved more than most could, not only through their words but through their actions. David Ortiz started the game by saying something alone the lines of, "This is our F*ing city and we will let no one dictate our freedom! Stay strong, okay!?" The fans cheered and came together after his encouragement. It was truly an amazing moment. The Red Sox organization, the members of the Red Sox Nation, and the MLB ended up raising $646,500 to donate towards The One Fund organization which will help the victims and families of the tragedy. The team also wore "Boston" jerseys instead of their tradition "Red Sox" jerseys that they ended up auctioning off at the end of the game. The proceeds also went to the charity. 

What made me so happy was hearing what the Red Sox players had to say about the game on Saturday. David Ortiz commented about how he knew what they were all going through and how happy he was to see people's chests' opening up and letting it go during the game. Daniel Nava stated "Knowing everything that went into the day for the city, for us to get the win, it came in a special way, in a special fashion. It made it all that more important." Lorenzo Cain called the game's atmosphere "electric". The way the team was able to unite together, with so much on their mind, and to come out with a win really showed their love and support for their team and town. They were intrinsically and extrinsically motivated by themselves and their fans to win that game for their city. GO RED SOX!
